First off, this is a GEM 💎 of a find in Freeport, FL for a HOT 🔥 day. The shade provided by the lush green canopy 🌲 is just something you don’t find too often around these parts. So, if you’re itching to get outside on a sunny day this is THE park to do so.
And to this point my wife, daughter, and I have enjoyed doing just this on summer days when we’d like to get outside. And today I met an old timer named JD who was doing just the same. Turns out JD lives between a home in Defuniak Springs, FL (Circle Lake) and Dothan, AL (Circle City) and while he’s around Walton he likes to come down to Harry A. Laird, Sr. City Park to enjoy TEN laps from the beginning to the end of the Boardwalk to get in a mile of walking in the SHADE!
That’s right TEN laps make a mile according to JD seemed like a pretty good guy so let’s take his advice as unofficially official 😉. Harry A. Laird Sr. Park is not big! But it’s exactly what you need on a hot sunny ☀️ day! JD reckons it’s also about 20 degrees cooler 🧊 under the canopy on the hottest days = again let’s take JD as the unofficially official spokesperson of Harry A. Laird, Sr. City Park!
We hope you’ll make it down to this wonderful find and maybe you too can meet a neighbor!
And one last thing… this is an IMPORTANT ONE when the boardwalk is wet it’s VERY SLIPPERY – JD College Graduate of 1967 actually did not complete his full ten laps due to safety concerns. I think he was a little jealous 😄 of my stroller since I had something to keep my hands on the whole time.
Below you will find, 1. A short video of the park and 2. A gallery of images of the park.
