“Are you a local?” This is a question that can evoke emotions of pride, heritage, and in some cases is used to determine the weight of one’s opinion.
If you’ve lived here a day, a decade, or a lifetime…. Welcome to Walton – you’re a local! High Five! ✋ Don’t let anyone tell you that there’s some rule that you need to be a here for at least x number of years.
But… the amount of time you’ve been here can play a role in your understanding and appreciation of this area. If you come across any old timers, they’ll be able to tell you stories of rocket launches from Missile Hill Road, Cows cooling in the Gulf of Mexico, and the lore of a Racetrack that never was.
So do your homework. You’ll find a deeper appreciation for this area and most importantly its people. The area is going to continue to evolve but preserving the love for this community but recognize that we, the locals, play the biggest role in preserving the small-town charm.
How quickly you dive in determines your acceleration to feeling like the old timer’s that have made this place so special.
Beyond being able to reference the legacy of our area, adopting a deep care for your community, and driving solutions rather than complaints will place you in the great company of the locals, we’re happy you’re here!
